James Kwasi Ahiable is a Chartered Accountant by profession and a member of Institute of Chartered Accountant Ghana (ICA (Ghana) and a Chartered Insurer, ACII (London). He holds Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Chartered Diploma (Oil & Gas Accounting ICA Ghana).
As part of his experience, James rose through the ranks in State Insurance Company (SIC), serving in various capacities to become the Technical Account Manager in 2004. From 2008 to 2016, he was General Manager (Finance & Admin) at UT Life Insurance Company Limited. He joined African Life Assurance in later part of 2016 as the General Manager (Finance & Administration). He was later appointed by the Board of Directors as the Managing Director. His rich experience spans across both Life and Non-Life Insurance business transactions and Accounting.
He has developed capacity in the Insurance and Reinsurance Accounting through several training programs over the period organized by leading Reinsurance Companies such as African Re, Munich Re and Continental Re to mention a few. Capacity development includes Reinsurance Accounting attachment at Heath Lambert Group Ltd and Willis in London. Others are; Fraud detection and prevention, Continuing Professional Education in Finance and aspects of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS 17), Management and versatile in crafting Corporate Strategy and Policy Framework. He attended several international conferences both within and outside Ghana such as WAICA conference in Banjul and AIO conferences in Mauritius, Cairo in Egypt and Tunis in Tunisia as well as WORLD TAKAFUL conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He has over 35 years’ experience in the Insurance Industry. From September 2021 to July 2024, James provided Statutory Management and Liquidation Accounting support services to the National Insurance Commission in respect of the liquidation of RegencyNem Insurance Company Ltd. James is a member of the Board of Best Assurance Co Ltd. Prior to his appointment, James was playing the role of Skilled Person to the Company as required under the Insurance Act2021, (Act1061).
